Phonography - Field Recording

Keep your days in sound.

There is far more sound around us than we ever notice.

Trees moving in the wind.
Rain landing on the ground.
The hum of a street, a bird calling somewhere further off.

Sounds that are always there, and slip past unless you stop to listen.

Phonography is a field recording app for listening closely to those everyday sounds — and keeping them.

Save the place, a photo and a note alongside the audio, and what you keep is the air of that moment, not just the sound of it.

On a walk, away on a trip, or in the middle of an ordinary day.

Let recording be the reason you listen to the everyday around you all over again.

  • 01 RECORD

Record a sound the moment you notice it

Birdsong, rain, the hum of a street — anything that catches your ear can be recorded on the spot. The date and time are saved for you, so the moment you stopped to listen stays with the sound.

  • 02 MEMORY

Keep the moment, not just the audio

Alongside its location, a recording can hold a title, notes and a photo. Where you were, what you heard and how it felt stay together as a single record.

  • 03 MAP

The sounds you collect become a map

Recordings appear on a map based on where they were made. Sounds from a trip, your usual walking route, the same corner as the seasons turn — you can look back on all of it by place.

  • 04 DISCOVER

Meet the sounds other people found

Recordings can be published if you want to share them. Wandering the map and listening to what someone else noticed brings you sounds and scenery you would never have found alone.
